These skills and techniques can be utilized and applied to all airbrushing mediums, including but not limited to automotive airbrushing, illustrative purposes, make-up application, body-painting, and more.

Description

In this workshop, students are taught proper use and maintenance of an airbrush gun, professional paint mixing techniques, and the fundamentals of airbrushing from design to finishing touches! These skills and techniques can be utilized and applied to all airbrushing mediums, including but not limited to automotive airbrushing, illustrative purposes, make-up application, body-painting, and more.

In This Course You Will Learn:

– How To Use An Airbrush & Compressor
– Airbrush Cleaning & Maintenance
– Types Of Paints & Mixing Techniques
– Creating Custom Stencils
– Advanced Airbrush Techniques
– Airbrushing Masks / Prosthetics
– Painting Characters & Models

NOTE: No previous painting or art experience is necessary prior to taking this class. You do not need an airbrush or paints to take this class as the course is a live in-depth lecture ending with a 30 minute Q & A. If you have an airbrush, compressor and paints feel free to follow along. It is encouraged to have a notepad and camera on hand to take notes and a camera to document your progress as you learn. Instructor

Vancouver FX Studio Founder and Lead Instructor, Dallas Harvey, is a special effects artist who works with both practical and digital mediums, with over 15 years of digital concept and CGI experience, Harvey has been credited with roles including lead special effects designer, key makeup effects artist, and puppeteer on many film, television, and music video productions.

In addition to taking role as author and previous-instructor of the Digital Make-Up Design curriculum for Blanche Macdonald Centre, Harvey was also responsible for curating the IMATS Vancouver Make-Up Museum 2012-2014 and featuring some of his work in Make-Up Artist Magazine, including written columns in the magazine’s Lab Tech section!

Most recently, Harvey designed special effects for The Exorcist Season 2 for Fox TV network including puppeteering custom builds, creating realistic props and silicone body duplicates, blood rigging, dental acrylic teeth creation, as well as custom sculpting fabrication and concept design.

About The Instructor

Dallas Harvey – Instructor & FX Artist

Dallas Harvey is a special effects artist who works with both practical and digital mediums. He has over 15 years of digital concept and CGI experience and has been lead special effects designer, key makeup effects artist and puppeteer on many TV, Film & Music video productions.

His special effects make-up designs have been published numerous times in the world-wide publication Make-up Artist Magazine. In addition, Harvey is a twice published author in the Lab Tech section of the magazine, and was curator of the IMATS Vancouver Make-up Museum 2012-2014. Harvey has also authored and instructed the Digital Make-up Design curriculum for Blanche Macdonald Centre. In 2015 he was a LEO Award nominee for Best Make-up in a Short Drama for Telefilm Canada sci-fi production Gord’s Brother.

Most recently Harvey designed special effects for The Exorcist Season 2 for Fox TV network puppeteering custom builds, creating realistic props, silicone body duplicates, blood rigging, dental acrylic teeth, custom sculpting fabrication and concept design.
