Art Of Make-Up FX: Level 2 (6 Weekly Classes)

Advanced 3D Transfer Prosthetic Sculpting & Make-up Application Class

3D Bondo transfers, or Pros-Aide 3D transfer prosthetics have become very popular in recent years and are now being widely used in professional make-up FX on TV & Film. You can see 3D transfer prosthetics being used in the new Mad Max, Walking Dead, The Hateful 8, The Revenant and many others. These realistic prosthetics look terrific on stage and on screen, even in HD!

Over 6 weekly classes Instructor & FX sculptor Dallas Harvey will teach students how to sculpt, mold, prepare and apply Pros-Aide Bondo based prosthetics. He will explain the materials, including Clays, Silicones and Prosthetic Transfer Material (PTM), as well as procedures, safety and the best applications for particular types of appliances.

This class will focus intensely on sculpting as well as mixing, production, application, problem solving and build ups using PTM. Students will also be taught how to properly apply the 3D Transfer Prosthetics to an actor, paint using film industry standard make-up FX products followed by safety and prosthetic removal techniques.

In this course students will be assigned a final project to create a character make-up while incorporating their newly created 3D transfer prosthetics into the design. Outside of class students have the option to create wardrobe, props and other character embellishments to create a final look. On the final day of class students will bring in a live model of their choice to create the final character they have designed and using all the techniques learned in the class.

This course will consist of lectures, demonstrations, and lots of HANDS-ON learning. All clay, sculpting, molding, silicone and prosthetic materials included in tuition fee. For the final assignment students will be required to provide their own model and all body safe industry standard make-up, adhesives, airbrushing or bodypainting supplies, costumes/wardrobe/wigs, nails and other accessories.

Airbrushes and compressors will be provided for student use during the final character exam. On the day, after the final character is complete the studio will provide a professional photoshoot for each student with digital images provided of their creation to use in an FX portfolio.
