Learn how to design and sculpt a 3D mini mask in 5 weekly night classes with FX artist and Instructor Dallas Harvey. Students will go through the process of how to sculpt a 3D mask of their own design, learn how to troubleshoot and 3D print their design in resin, clean up and prepare the mask for painting, airbrushing and hand painting FX techniques.

By the end of the course all students will end up with an original hand painted & 3D printed resin mini mask to take home along with the 3D print file for creating future copies.

In this 3D sculpting class students will learn:
– Original Mask Concept Design in Nomad Sculpture program (Ipad or Android tablet)
– Pro 3D Sculpting Techniques To Create A Mini Mask
– 3D File Slicing & Print Setup Programs
– 3D Printing A Resin Mini Mask
– 3D Print Cleanup & Resin Curing
– Hand Painting, Airbrushing & Finishing

All Students will need to have an IPAD with OS 12.0 or later or ANDROID Tablet with 4.4 or later. Must also have a tablet stylus pen to take this digital sculpting course. No previous digital sculpting experience required for this beginner class.

This class is designed for beginners and intermediate students with lots of hands-on learning and also includes live demonstrations and lectures by the instructor. It is encouraged to bring a notepad to take notes and a camera to document your progress as you learn. Upon finishing the workshop, students will receive a certificate of completion signed by the instructor.

Instructor

About The Instructor Dallas Harvey – Instructor & FX Artist Dallas Harvey is a special effects artist who works with both practical and digital mediums. He has over 15 years of digital concept and CGI experience and has been lead special effects designer, key makeup effects artist and puppeteer on many TV, Film & Music video productions. His special effects make-up designs have been published numerous times in the world-wide publication Make-up Artist Magazine. In addition, Harvey is a twice published author in the Lab Tech section of the magazine, and was curator of the IMATS Vancouver Make-up Museum 2012-2014. Harvey has also authored and instructed the Digital Make-up Design curriculum for Blanche Macdonald Centre. In 2015 he was a LEO Award nominee for Best Make-up in a Short Drama for Telefilm Canada sci-fi production Gord’s Brother. Most recently Harvey designed special effects for The Exorcist Season 2 for Fox TV network puppeteering custom builds, creating realistic props, silicone body duplicates, blood rigging, dental acrylic teeth, custom sculpting fabrication and concept design.
