Learn how to sculpt a detailed face prosthetic makeup from start to finish in this intensive hands-on online course taught by industry FX artist Dallas Harvey. In three weekly classes, students are taken through original prosthetic concept design techniques, how to sculpt human facial anatomy, realistic texturing & detailing, proper and effective multi-use of sculpting tools, how to sculpt professional blending edges, finishing techniques and much more!

No previous sculpting or art experience is necessary prior to taking this class. The course takes place using Zoom classroom so everyone can work along with the Instructor and get live feedback on their sculptures as they progress. Students must already have their own sculpting tools and clay (polymer/sculpey, plastilina/monster clay/chavant) and lifecast/head form to work with the instructor. If students do not have supplies on hand they can just follow along to learn and take notes. Anyone can take this course from beginner or advanced!

About The Instructor Dallas Harvey – Instructor & FX Artist Dallas Harvey is a special effects artist who works with both practical and digital mediums. He has over 15 years of digital concept and CGI experience and has been lead special effects designer, key makeup effects artist and puppeteer on many TV, Film & Music video productions. His special effects make-up designs have been published numerous times in the world-wide publication Make-up Artist Magazine. In addition, Harvey is a twice published author in the Lab Tech section of the magazine, and was curator of the IMATS Vancouver Make-up Museum 2012-2014. Harvey has also authored and instructed the Digital Make-up Design curriculum for Blanche Macdonald Centre. In 2015 he was a LEO Award nominee for Best Make-up in a Short Drama for Telefilm Canada sci-fi production Gord’s Brother. Most recently Harvey designed special effects for The Exorcist Season 2 for Fox TV network puppeteering custom builds, creating realistic props, silicone body duplicates, blood rigging, dental acrylic teeth, custom sculpting fabrication and concept design.
